Arthur looked through the bars of the dungeon and met Merlin’s eyes steadily. There was no way he was going to let this happen. Merlin was not allowed to sacrifice himself like this. He wouldn’t let him.

“Please,” he pleaded. “There has to be another way.”

“There isn’t,” Merlin told him, his voice unwavering.

Arthur screamed in frustration, slamming his fist against the metal cage holding his best friend. “I’m going to find another way, Merlin.”
